Highlight #4: Homebrew

This may come as a surprise to many people reading this blog, but I love brewing beer! We brewed our first batch in January or February, and even though it felt a bit rocky at first, we have yet to brew a bad batch. (Knock on wood!) I can't wait to start the next batch, a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. We have a lot of beer stashed away right now, we are considering not brewing this summer because it gets so hot in our apartment and it is just not good for the beer. It needs temperatures below about 76 degrees to ferment. This summer we kept the beer in the bedroom right in front of the air conditioner, but now we have a second air conditioner for the living room so that we don't have to have the one in the bedroom on 24/7. That got expensive. So then we would have to move the carboys back and forth to be in the cooler room. What a pain. Oh well, we'll work it out. Anyway the beer has definitely been great, with many more delicious brews to come in 2009!
